ReadingThroughAMemberUsesIt

Whether reading through a member counts as using it, when validating against the source member list. On by default.

public bool ReadingThroughAMemberUsesIt { get; init; }

Property Value

bool

Remarks

Only Source cares. It reports every readable source member that no destination member uses, and the question is what a destination configured with MapFrom(s => s.Office.Code) uses: the whole of Office, or nothing of it.

On, which is the default, it counts: Office is read, so it is used. Off matches the library this one is a drop-in for, which counts a path the naming convention found but not one written by hand — the two were run side by side to establish that, and it looks more like an artefact of how that library records what it matched than a rule.

The default is the lenient one on purpose. Being more lenient than that library cannot break a migration, since a configuration it accepted is accepted here; being stricter would reject configurations that already work.
